Afternoon folks, thought I should make a quick post to introduce myself.
This forum was my buddy Andrew's (abenson100) recommendation when I asked what forum I outta join. I've just sold my long-time daily driver 2004 SVT Focus, and after some searching my new daily beater is this little cosmetically challenged '97 Impreza Brighton coupe, 2.2, ATX, in two shades of blue:
The EJ22 Impreza seems like a really good bet for a daily driver. I've always like the visibility and ergonomics in 90's cars, and despite the ATX it gets around just fine. The car sits at 140k miles and seems to have had pretty good care and feeding. Recent front suspension and brake work which I've been able to confirm. Some pretty damn ugly body work for the rot around the rockers and rear quarters. Timing belt was done at 130k (taking that on good faith) and its on its 2nd set of front axles. Rear tires were chewed up, "flat4awd" was good enough to sell me a set of A/S on steelies so I can at least roll around on a matched set.
So far so good. Its got a cold tick like very other Subaru I've heard. Throwing a P0440 and P0325 (fuel filler neck and knock sensor on order) and peeing gasoline where I park it, but it drives very nicely.
I already owned my sport compact (had the SVT for 8 years, what a car) and I ride a Yamaha FZ1, so this car's certainly not for speed. It's a great little car for rainy and snowy days though.
