New to the WRX club

2011Wrex

New member
I was referred here from another forum and I figure what the heck, why not. I am the proud owner of a 2011 WRX that I picked up last Friday. It is tons of fun and makes up for the void left from selling my 2003 Mach 1 to buy the WRX.

I live in the greater Bangor area and this is my 3rd subaru though the first one that actually matters.

Welcome! Glad you made it over here.

We've got monthly dinner meets in the event section and group drives happen from time to time.

Cool, I am down for every excuse to go out and drive. Now if only I could find a forum like this for snowmobiling my rides would be a lot more fun.

I had the option of a black one but this dark gray metallic is almost black and shimmers with the flakes which looks a lot nicer than just regular black. Well that's my opinion atleast. I would have loved a blue one but someone beat me to it. I just wish the stereo had a little more... everything to it. I am not very good with car stereos and know about as much about them as I do non brick cell phones. That is to say, nothing.

I just put a scratch in my passenger side rear door. I am so pissed right now. I haven't even had the car a week. WTF!!!

welcome

now at least you can quit worrying about scratches, the first is always the hardest.

next is to install some stone chips on the lower body, best done by goosing the gas coming out of corners on dirt.

haha thanks for the advice. It looks like it can be wet sanded but that is something I have zero experience with. Is my brand new car the best training medium for something that involves being careful, sandpaper, and paint? Probably not. I will swing up to napa and see what they have though.

You could always try on something else. Basically, you use a very fine grit (at least 1500, 2000 or 3000 grit) with plenty of water. It's so fine... just take your time and then be sure to wax afterwards. I hear you though, not wanting to try it out on the new wrx!

I tried the meguiars fine cut cleaner http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+M0216 which doesn't seem to be enough to take care of the 'bad' scratch. The smaller ones are mostly invisible now. The big one you have to look for (aside from it being centered in the clean dust free patch on the door.) Napa only had 1500 grit and I was ready to use 2000 grit + so I just went with the meguiars and applied it by hand. I am not /happy/ with it now, but it is not going to infuriate me every time I walk past the vehicle. Live and learn, next time be more careful loading car tires into the wifes car.
