Hes running 215/75/15 Tires with a 1in lift kit.

Ill be about the same height hes at but heres my problem I dont have 15in rims, I have my 16in stockers. The two sizes I can run are 215/65R16 and 215/70/16. Is the tire going to fit with that extra 1in in the rim? It would also help if I could figure out what the numbers on the tires ment... Is the 215 the height and the 65 the width or the other way around. Ive done plenty of research about this but, It just adds to the condusion

. If its the first way, then I dont think the tires will fit because theyll be the same height.

Thanks

The 215 is your width in mm. The 65 is the percentage of the 215 that is the sidewall high...or something like that.

I think...

width of tire/% of width in height (65% of 215)/ wheel size.... that's why i 65 on a 195 looks different then on 215

what you also need to know is overall diameter of the diffrent sizes--and especially how the new diameter compares to your stock diameter

go to tirerack.com, they have awesome tire spec pages that let you compare the diamter of various sizes.

diamter not only affects fender/body/suspension clearance, it also affects gearing. larger diamter is like having higher gears, and will make speedo read slow. smaller diameter is like lower gears and will make speedo read fast.

anything more than about 10% difference in diameter will mess up your ABS computer and affect gearing enough so you may not be happy with the car's drivability.

The ABS will sitll function with a larger tire, just make sure you upgrade pads as you will be employing more power to slow the vehicle with larger tires.

Function yes, as well, not always.
Actually it will. It was proven and that is why the Maine lift laws were changed a couple of years ago.

I know the shop owner that spearheaded the effort.

And I can tell you from first hand knowledge from a few vehicles it doesn't always function properly.

are you talking HUGE tire size difference? because that will cause it to actuate as if you were going slower. With a proper pad upgrade it will function fine on moderate 2-3" size increase.

No not a huge change, 31" tires and 33" from stock so around 28-29", quite a bit of chatter on dry pavement and sometimes old school braking.
