Orbital brake rotors?

A buddy of mine is getting ready to replace all four rotors on his 1999 A4 Quattro, and (if you can believe this) he knows less about this stuff than even me. So, I put this two-part question to the collective wisdom here:

1) are slotted rotors a smart upgrade to make on a car that has about a year or two left as a daily-driver, then a conversion to heavy-ass rallycross tank,

and

2) if slotted rotors are smart, then which way to go? Brembo's a good name, and from what I see you pay a bit more for them. My buddy sent this link as a possible slotted alternative, but I'm really hesitant to go with a brand/slotting method I've never seen before

slotted is good, but it is not necessary. Pads are always going to make more of a difference than Rotors.

That said. ATE brand is fine.

I have the brembro slots on the RS. I do find the slots help clear the rallycross dirt I scoop into them. But for DD they are probably not necessary

Eh, no...he's leaning towards a set of four Brembo OEM replacement discs, actually. Based in no small part on TyTy's Audi's demonstration of stopping power (he's got the Brembos on the RallyAudi.)
