P0304 - cynlinder 4 misfire

Driving last night my car (05 rs) noticed that it was idling lower (~600rpm) & then threw a solid cel with the cruise control indicator slowly flashing. The OBD2 code read 'P0304 - 4th cynlinder misfire detected.' Headed out for the hopeful easy fix of plugs & wires.

Has anyone run accross this code/issue have advice/thoughts?

My thoughts but could be way off:

More likely

plugs

wires

Likely

coil pack

knock sensor

Possible

timing belt

burnt valve

head gasket

low compression

fuel pump

Voodoo fixes

marvel mystery oil

seafoam

05 RS has the individual coil packs IIRC. I would lean to the coil pack or the wire. Grab a meter and check for reasonable resistance. If it pegs the meter to max then that part is fried.

(null)

I checked the # 2 & 4 pathways on the coil pack and got about the same reading. New plugs and wires to finish. Not sure if it was new parts or the process of taking it apart & reseating everything but it's better for now. No current or pending codes & it's running smoother.

^^^ pretty much

Just no smoking gun problem this time. Yet anyway...

I'm happy with voodoo so long as the engine keeps going
