Recommend Me a Place To Weld My Header Near Gorham

So I'm installing a WRX header on my 2.5i, to get that rumble in my scoob. The cast steel WRX header I have needs some cutting and rewelding in order to work.

Does anyone know of shop that does quality work to help me fit this header near Gorham? (I may have asked this before on chat, but forgot the answers I was given).

It takes a lot of time, prep, and patience to do it right, which is why the welder I've been working under at work hasn't taught me yet

buy new/used and scrap old

Cast CAN be welded but you have to heat it, weld it, heat it. It's really a huge pain in butt. It's fine as long as you do that. It's probably going to be easier to go buy some tubing and then mig it together in the same shape to get the UEL Headers for the rumble. It will probably cost you less actually.

I can have t the welder guy at work weld for me, but most people don't have that luxury

After putting borla headers on my n/a Subaru, I believe they're a waste of money. The car would benefit more from suspension upgrades.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, much like the "worth it-ness" of uels on n/a's is in the ears of the owner. Made sense in my head haha

I'm willing to pay some money for the rumble... but I don't want to break the bank for it. The Rallisport headers are nice, but damn, at $500, that's a crock! I'd probably do some custom setup like Chris is doing... I'll just use him as the guinea pig!

How much cutting/fitting will be needed? I might be able to convince my dad to weld it,but hes not much on lots of cutting. I have nickel rod,Id just have to come up with a torch to preheat,my plasma cutter doesn't really preheat things well.... Hes been working at BIW for 38 years as a welder, federally certified in everything except under the sea welding....

HA! I worked there for a while back in 03 as a structural fitter. Got the ol stick and mig training from them. I already knew how to weld but they really showed me how much I didn't know.

Also.. you're right. Plasma CUTTERS are definitely not good at heating since they are designed to not have to heat up the surrounding area as much as torches do. Your old man doesn't have any torches? acetylene or anything? The crappy little propane ones just won't heat it up quick enough to be able to weld it any time in the next week so those are useless.

Not much cutting should be required. Here are some pics of what I'm doing:
