security system installation?

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here, so i hope i'm doing it right.

I've got a 1998 Legacy 2.5 GT that didn't have a remote entry system when i got it.

I took one out of a 1997 legacy gt and was wondering if it's possible to wire it into my '98?

It's not the alpine one, it's the older style keyfob.

is the wiring harness already under the dashboard?

where should i look?

any input on this would be really greatly appreciated,

If it's the factory style alarm system, it should have harnesses it plugs in to. If it's the terrible dealer installed one with the black button. ugh.
