WOAH... hold on...hang pix of all 3 choices on the wall
drink 9 beers
then put on a blindfold and throw a dart...you can't go wrong no matter where it hits
(long as you don't hit your cat, that is)
had AGXes on my RS, Bilstein HD's on Volvo Amazon and Tacoma 4x4 and loved what they did for the handling. no experience with Illuminas but they're popular with Otter crowd. HD's probly best bang for the buck.
if I can get the illumina's at a pepboyz, autozone, advance autoparts I can get a lifetime warranty on them. and with GC sleves it will take me all of 5min to swap. so I am not too concerned about getting a bad one.The Miata I used this past summer had AGXs. They felt pretty good, but in my experiances the firm setting isn't really that firm, and they hate to be on springs that are lower than an inch or so. My direct experiances have been with a focus and miata. The AGX's have always left me wanting a bit more...
The illuminas I have no direct experiance with, but aren't these what B. Sousa had on the teg that blew up after one event? I'm not sure how confident I am in this breed.
I dont know anything about Bilsteins other than people loved them on the focus. ???
I guess i'd go with the Bilsteins personally between those 3.
WOAH... hold on...
You have a Volvo Amazon?
mostly because they are available locally at ~$40 less per shock than the Koni's with a lifetime warranty.Sorry Ryan, I fail to see the logic behind anything but Koni's especially if you partake in extra curriculars on the weekends.
They are a higher quality piece.
They have better resale value.
Can be modified by Koni to any type of shock adjustability and valving you want.
Have a good warranty.
Are similar moneys to other OTS shocks avail.
Maybe I just need to be edjumacated on these other choices you have on why they warrant purchase. *shrug*
I saw Sousa's failed unit, Sherman is also running tokico's with good luck. and honestly I would probably be going with the bilsteins.Koni's have the same warranty. Tirerack = 139.99 per shock. Im sure you can find them cheaper elseware. The support from the company directly far outweighs local support from Pepzone or Autoboys.![]()
Ask Brian Sousa how he likes his Tokico's with 400lb spring rates and less then 1 inch lowering from OE.
they are non adjustable.Aren't they non-adjustable?valving and adjustability = sameish.
