Short throw shifters

For the tech minded:

What is the difference between the Kartboy short shifter and the STI short shifter? I'm thinking about one for the LGT...

STI -- short shifter

Kartboy -- super short shifter

The STI one comes as a whole shifter assy, with all the linkage. It is a total PITA to install compared to the Kartboy.

The STI one is $295, Kartboy $110.

STI install time, 1.5-2 hours, Kartboy 10-15 minutes.

STI is hardly noticeable, Kartboy is very noticeable

Kartboy is awesome! STI, not so much.

when installing Kartboy, be double-triple-quattro sure the plastic bushing that holds the shifter ball in place is pushed ALL THE WAY thru the shifter rod assy before you put the retaining circlip on, or else the circlip will fall out and you will be waving your new Kartboy in vain...after the shifter has popped apart.

please do not ask how I learnt this, let's just say it was very embarrassing and very annoying. also expensive. also painful, as I was holding the shifter together with my fingers while Cassidy was banging shifts to finish a stage.

once assembled correctly, we have had exactly zero probs with the Kartboy shifter setup.
