Spec b problem

Ok I have a friend who has a spec b and he is having problems. He has power to only the front wheels no power goes to the rear. Does it sound like a diff. He said he heard a grinding sound when he had the car on the dyno. But it only grinds on the dyno or in the snow.

? If you get the car in the air, jack stands or lift and put it in drive check to see if the drive shaft is spinning. If its grinding I'd imagine the trans/diff is toasty
