Storyland 2008 4/26 and 4/27

Thanks for th heads up Brighton, but the timing was all wrong. I had a 3 hour drive to get over there and I was doing it last night after everything closed. Nothing would have been open this morning either so it just was timed wrong. Good to know that I can get them that easy, I'll grab a few to keep for spares so it doesn't happen again and get it changed tomorrow

awesome event guys! AX was fun, still prefer playing in the dirt, but grip was....interesting! the wet course this morning was reallllllly fun!

thanks for the input to both Evilaspie and Ralli! you both helped me get decent runs for a rallycrosser

Alright, where's the pictures? I wanna see Moody sliding the RS around, with clumps of cacked mud falling off from the underside.

actually, Ty, I gave her a semi--proper bath last weekend. and except for the wet course this morning, very little sliding around was to be had, it felt VERY strange to point the car and it went exactly where you pointed it!

Redline and I took lots of pics with his camera and I'll sure he'll share his when he gets a chance to breath, he and blix worked their tails off this weekend

Any success with the mobile setup? I know they were excited to see it work

I took some random pictures today of the odds...i'll try to post them up when i connect the camera.

It was a great weekend, those that missed it really missed out :occasion14: :occasion14: :occasion14:

Gabe makes me want to :puke: You got me by like a second or more both days, i doubted you....but you came through. :sad5:

Antonio we're 1-1 now :bootyshake: :bootyshake: I'll look forward to the year ahead battling you...maybe we'll even catch gabe.

All the GC peeps you guys laid it down too....good work out there, hope to see Kat come out again and Peter keep fisting akina out of his mind :headbang: :headbang: :boxing: :boxing:

Well i'm tired. And i'll look like this tomorrow :coffee:

Holly awesome weekend batman!!!

First in Class both days!! 6th in PAX overall, day 2. I know i know raw > pax, but it's still cool!

My car handled awesome! -2.9 up front with the 25m sway was perfect. Didn't understeer at all until the rain and downhill going too fast! :evil1:

Kat did great for a funky setup car and little grip experience! Her line was super! Thanks again for letting me ride with you! :angel12:

Gabe is the man. nough sad.

Come and get me next time mike.

Overall impressions for the weekend...

Exhausting. I received so much more business than I expected. Thank you very much to everyone who purchased product this weekend! I found out quickly that working the vinyl biz is a cram session of 2 hours tops. All of the orders came very quickly and didn't let up until noon time.

Awesome. My first official experience in Auto-x was a very positive one. I am extremely thankful to Ralli, EvilAsPie and Chris M. (cmc) for observing the way I drove and providing very worthwhile feedback. I was able to apply their criticism effectively and walked away with a nice (rice chex) Novice FTD trophy.

Exhilerating. Each and every time I got behind the wheel of my car, my heart was jumping out of my chest and my feet couldn't wait to dance. The course design was superb, and the parking lot made for a very competitive experience for everyone. Off-camber turns, frost heaves and cracks - they all had their own way of affecting each car differently, depending on how well the driver was able to adjust to them.

Short. Time flew. Even though I got in 11 runs (22 total on the car... tire wear - bleh!) it seemed like I was barely out there. I keep joking that I want to attend a 20 person event at the Collisee lot (unlikely) and then I'd get some awesome seat time.

Overall - 1 HUGE

It was great to see lots of new faces and meet STM regs out there both days. All you STM workers and volunteers were much appreciated.

Many thanks goes to Peter and Gabe for letting me stave on their machines for the safety runs. I guess Subaru's can turn? :confused2:

what about the awesome Hogans?

oh and how did the Hogan drink taste?

Wow what an awesome weekend.

I'm sick as a dog today though. Blah.

Congrats to Trainable (who cleaned my clock), ruggedman for taking charge in STU (and he beat me in raw time Sunday, nice work), Chris (not on here but in his BSP STI for still kicking butts), and to Evil for his stellar show in STS (btw, he may of beat me in raw time on sunday, I know we were in the same tenth of a second, nice job!!) and also for EVERYONE that came out.

It was great to see Ferrari and shorty out there, and sir redline did a great job, both racing and with his Sweeeeeet moble decal setup.

Can't wait to do it again, we'll see if I can convince my wife to let me spend more money :-) But I really think I just need to learn to trust the rcomps.. I didnt overdrive them until my last run when I had hit a cone and I was like, wow, I can got a lot faster!!!!

YES!! The whole weekend i just kept driving it harder and harder, never really found the "WARNING!! driver hamfisting too much must spin or understeer!!" point so I know there's a lot more left! By the end of the weekend i was driving it just like i drove the black shoe with TONS of steering input and tons of throttle and it just loved it. The RComps take a while to get used to, but once you realize how much insane gripzors they can serve up you'll be a lot faster.

To sum up the weekend fun as hell. Many thanks to Mr. Miller for all the time and effort he put in and bringing sooooo many hogans together in one place. And no problem on the car it was actually tons of fun taking a ride in my own car.

Congrats Peter 6th in PAX is awesome. You guys should have a ton of fun battling it out in STS.

Andy needs competition he seems too fast in a class he doesn't belong in :thebirdman: to be running by himself.

I'm just happy I sneaked two by Antonio while he was still figuring out r-comps via the drive as hard as possible and pray I don't hit anything method. Nothing says you might be pushing the car too hard like taking out 6 or so cones with an off course one run, putting down your fastest time of the day the next, and then spinning out on the next. All the off season changes to the car have definitely paid off it's more fun and easier to drive not to mention significantly faster. Maybe next event I'll take some time to truly learn the limits of the car rather than just driving the snot out of it.

:bootyshake: :laughing4:

I had a full class yesterday. Added the first two notches to the belt of cars I really shouldn't beat in STU. :whip2:

I'm sure a real STU car will show up and beat me senseless...but it's a lot of fun to just arrive and drive!

What an awesome day. I can't believe how much the times fell as the track dried out. I can't wait for the next one.

I got 2 off courses. One on the track that cost me 20 sec, one on the way home that cost me 1.5 hours. Blah. I missed one stupid turn and drove the wrong way for 40 miles....

What way did you take home? I always think I want to stay on 26 opposed to getting off on 119. Luckily I do it so often I catch myself after less than a mile now.

Hahaha I forgot about that, I think my brain started the trip home without me at some point in the afternoon. You were putting up some good numbers, I would be really surprised if an STU driver/car combo comes out of the woodwork to beat you. Luckily for me almost all the currently scheduled events are ~10miles from my house so I see a lot of driving there on r-comps in my future :drunken_smilie:
