Storyland 2008 4/26 and 4/27

all done.

rear camber bolts returned to stock. and RSB adjusted.

you wouldn't believe how loose those bolts were!!

and just before dark!

the rear camber now looks like what it was set at last time i had it aligned so im not too worried. and now no slipping WHILE IM DRIVING!!!!! yeah that's a funny feeling....

I will also have my handy co-pilot with me to help me too! He takes good care of me!
Yes, he will. I appreciated being able to "borrow" him last weekend. Watching his lines definitely helped me with mine.

I just need a dedicated racer. Every time I race, be it on dirt or last weekend on tarmac, I hear Al on my shoulder saying "You have to drive it to work tomorrow!!! :nono: or You brake it and you have to fix it!!! :nono:" Unfort, it does make one drive at less than 100%. :crybaby2:

I love you loosely you use the term "every time"... LOL!

2wice in 1 weekend doesn't constitute "every time". I think you have insufficient sampling data for such a conclusion. A minimum of 3 tests are required.
SSssshhh you, leave my hogan sporting rationalizations alone :thebirdman:.

I believe Saturday @ Storyland this year will be the most boost buggy friendly course there will be in 2008. There were 4 elements where there was a tight turn and over 150-180ft of straightaway. 2 on level pavement and 2 on the hill.

Saturday was the more balanced of the 2 days as Sunday was much more smooth and flowing. Ive been trying to do that every year I chair the event.

The great news is, Andy Smith is chairing a Lewiston event, so maybe he can figure out some kind of 100ft start straight so you guys can roast your clutch, put strain on your gears and trans, and roast an axle or hub or some other subaru drivetrain part.

And remind me next year around early march when designing Hogancross 2009, instead of slaloming the manhole covers Ill just do a hero launch 100+foot section start. :sign5:

:sign5: I think you're supposed to put this little guy at the top of your post to post to point at the other persons not at the bottom to point to your own.

I don't know I think Andy is the only one more scared of AWD launch than you honda folk. :drunken_smilie:
The fact that Sat is probably going to be the most boost buggy friendly event just proves the point that there really is no need to level the playing field for the smaller, lower hp, fwd cars. On a course like that were the cars can lay down some power on certain sections it does make some sense to not give the boost buggies a free .3s right out of the box. However it does get frustrating when the same start is employed on very tight technical courses. I understand the idea of preventing launches, but it seems other methods could be tried. I thought the start directly into a slalom used at one of the jetport events last year was fun and effective. The repetitive 90* corner 10ft after the start line just gets tiring to me and I feel there must be a middle ground between 100ft of straight runway and what is currently done.

I'm sorry if my previous post about this came off as serious, as I was kidding. I appreciate all that you guys do to keep events going and going smoothly and if the starts really bother me it is up to be to take a more active part in the club and voice my opinions not for you guys to read my mind. I just found the idea that CMC courses were so boost buggy friendly that there was a need to put in specific items to keep them fair for the other cars humerous. :occasion14:

I love starting with a slalom! One of the best ways to start the course i think.

I tend to make miata friendly courses since apparently i dont know how to make one that's scooby friendly.

I might not even drive at my event this year, last year i had my only 3rd in class at my own event, i thought my course was fun, but i had a line to drive it in my mind that wasn't right obviously and i couldn't get over it. BIZ-ARRRRRRR.

wise picked lines gets the fastest times. IMHO :munky2:
Exactly.. so why have the stupid painful starts.. I still think its somewhat dumb, in fact that was the only part of the course that I didn't like. I mean, dont have a dragstrip.. but the start on Sunday actually physically hurt my arm.

Plus, if people want to put strain on their car, drivetrain, etc from hero launching, it is their choice and they know the risks...

Gotta read everything else that I've missed though.

Edit: let me make sure that i'm clear though, I'm not for dragstrip starts, or crazy launching, etc, but, very very tight starts are generally not all that fun.

On the same token, I'm not sure what I would of done for a start there as there was a couple man hole covers right there. I'm sure it was somewhat of a compromise, I just feel like we are seeing too many 90* or tighter starts.

I resemble that remark.

PS LFB was the only way for me to get around the cones, terminal understeer otherwise.

Odd I tried to make the start on sunday less painful then saturdays. Once we started running saturday I :puke: @ the start.

And yes Antonio your right there are 6 manhole covers to dodge in that starting section so it makes it a challenge.

Sorry for the arm pain, certainly wasnt my goal.

Jeesh you put in all this time and effort making sure we have a smooth and super fun event and this is the thanks you get :munky2:. I'm sorry for any negativity I added to this thread and will keep my mouth from here on out.

In your face Gabe! :bootyshake:

Naw, I prefer having people think and talk openly. Plus when designing a course you don't realize the minor details until a second eye goes over it.

IE: ALWAYS design a course on paper and in your mind to be perceived SUPER RETARDED fast. Usually it will end up just right, or even have some tightish elements that need to be tweaked.

It's cool man, I was just expressing that. Obviously you wouldnt do that on purpose, and believe me, I know the difficultly in designing around stuff (Crooker 2 years ago, remember that, grrr frustrating).

But, a lot of my point was its be a LOT more than JUST your designs, and there have been some in the past that have been worse than anything you made.
