it's now official, Mr Viral Video is dumping his subarus and moving to Fiestas in the Rally America series and...and...and...Focus RS in the WRC

http://monsterworldrallyteam.com/pdf/pressRelease.pdf

His WRC Focus will be prepped by M Sport, Ford's longtime WRC partner, whilst the R-A Fiesta will be run by Olsbergs, the crew that prepped the Fiestas that ran at X Games last summer.

Sad to see him leave Subaru, but wahoo this is Big News!

It will be awesome to see

1.) Another serious manufacturer competing in the US!

2.) An American competing full time in the WRC - with top notch WRC equipment!

3.) The marketing power of Ken Block further driving the visibility of US rally on an international stage.

While I love my Subarus, I think Ford was the right choice for this and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Ken can do in the next three years.

This sums up my feelings. I'm happy to see Rally get more exposure form the media juggernaut that is Block, along with Ford being associated with something besides the mustang and nascar.

If Ken Block can bring the Focus RS(my favorite car evarrrr) to America, I will love him long time. I dont really care where he goes though.

Ford long ago decided that it would not be competitive in the US auto market...I doubt anything has changed. People over here aren't keen on buying a $30k fwd, tire spinning, econobox.

Oh, I would snag one in a heartbeat, it is a damn sexy/well built car...but it just doesn't fit in the American market with it's price -> feature ratio.

I'm actually shopping for a Focus SVT 2 door hatch my own self currently...mebbe we'll have to start a revolt and take over this site and call it Mainely Fords !!

Hah, I wont have to do much then. I can just drone on more about Mustangs.

heh, I been a ford guy most of me life (so far)

meet my F-250 "Joey DeVivre" (in background). He works like a mule but has a serious drinking problem

Meh, I really like the focus and all, but I also love GC/GF subies. And all the newer ones for that matter

I think Ford is missing the boat by not bringing the RS over here. True, a front wheel drive driver's car, with compromises toward performance, but a price to match is not going to be a volume seller. However, I and quite a few others purchased VW Corrado SLCs in the early 90s for about $26K a pop (yes I am old). Now, the SLC was leather and electric everything, so maybe not quite the same market, but the point is that enthusiasts will pay top dollar for a car they can be passionate about. Cars that you and only a few others understand why you own, and that is the way you like it. Maybe they sell only 2,500 to 3,500 units--so what. The excitement a car like that generates, and the resulting sales of other ford cars, I think would at least cover the cost associated with bringing the RS here.

Oh, and happy for Ken--he's about my age.....

I'm looking forward to the competition that this will bring to the subaru USA team for Rally America...I remember posting something like this after the x-games....

Also, its good to be back to mainelysubarus....computer problems + christmas spending = having to wait for something that works

Doh... What am I to do with my Block DC clothes?

Oh well, sucks for us Subaru fanboys. But I'm sure it's gonna work out for him. It's really a smart move on his part...

man subaru is suckibg some major balls in the rally world. first they drop out of wrc all together then they loose a major star they have in the american world of rally ( wich is all they have left). do they plan on just completly loosing all there rally ties? that like if chevy stopped having cars in nascar it dosent make sense.

i cant balme ken for leaving he is smart to get off the sinkign ship before it goes down

the svt focus is a great car i had one and did a head to toe suspension upgrade for auto x's its a fun car handles well and has a lot of potentiall for a n/a car. there r a ton of parts for the car and are very cheap to purchase
