So, Gabe and I, and a few others (John R, Mike P, Matt H not on this forum) are heading down to Ayer, MA to run at the famed Ft. Deven's. I've been there before in my Lancer and Sentra, and the courses were absolutely amazing. Generally over 1 mile long and just crazy fun.

Plus, the Freeport lot isn't very good, so we figured this would be fun. Didn't know if anyone else wanted to go. It is $50 for non scca members ($35 for members, plus $15 for a temp membership which can be credit towards a full year membership). There is generally a lot of people, and the competition is very good.

So, anyone interested in coming with us. Some of us will be heading down early on Sunday morning.

evil rsgirl and i were thinking abou going. they want to drive but my cars still not up to my spec so i think i'll just go and watch. we'll let you know maybe we can catch you guys for a caravan.

You should just run and get the seat time, don't worry about the clutch stuff.

I'm planning to arrive in Ayer at about 7:30 am just to allow a little extra time for travel issues. Google maps says its about 3 hours from Augusta, but in reality at a normal pace its I think less than 2.5 hours. But regardless, especially with I295 closed, I'm going to get on the interstate in Augusta around 4:30/4:45 ish. That should put me in the Portland area by 5:30ish. Should we meet up at the Kennebunk service center at around 5:45ish?? (leave there by 6am and we should be GTG).

what happened to I-295? Why's it closed?

Oh, and Ayer is about 30-35 mins from my house, which is about 1.45 hours from Lewiston, or 45 mins from Kennebunk

you guys should just come down to Kbunk Sat evening. that would cut about what an hour and a half off? maybe 2 with the construction?

yeah i'd like the seat time but im kinda broke my new rotors are back ordered and the car still runs like ass in the rain. i think it would be just as fun to go and watch you guys and if they allow it get a few ride alongs i'm still debating on driving or not.

Generally they do not allow ride alongs (run just like a national tour) btu they may ok it if you are not running.

I'm going to have my kiddo Saturday night so I'm going to stay in Augusta, Thanks though, I appreciate it.

I think leaving Kennebunk around 6am should be good then.

I295 southbound is closed for 3 months due to them completely rebuilding it. They are taking out the concrete (that is crumbling) and replacing it with asphalt.

Heidi and i are still on the fence about going.

No ride alongs? So like Heidi and i who usually ride with each other all the time wouldn't fly?

Also, mike did you say reg was open from 7-7:30? Can you pre-reg for this?

Anyone got a site link for more info?

You can pre reg ... http://www.ner.org for more info.

Reg is open from 7:30 - 8:30 (weekend scca memberships available at that time). Tech is only open til 9 am I believe...

Just do it!

from what i gather competators are not allowed to ride along, i might be able to sneek in i guess cause im probaly just watching. but i wouldn't want to push it.

what do you say evil? up for a trip?

Right, that was my understanding. I know a few of the folks there from before. I'll ask them if its ok for you to ride some when we get there if you come.

Couple more Qs...

Are they going to be stricter about two people driving one car?

Will my little numbers be big enough?

Do i need to get a tirerack decal for the top of my windshield? :laughing1:

I really hate getting timed out while trying to make a post.. grrrr

Anywho,

nope, two people will be fine, they'll probably space you out properly, but many of them do it, in fact at a national level it seems to be very common.

Likely your numbers will not, I believe in the past it was 8" numbers and 4" class letters, however, I believe in the past they would make exceptions for those that have not run with the group before. I suggest a good marker, some paper and painters tape. Be sure to make it readable, but I'd wait til you get a number from them. Bring one also just in case.

No tirerack decal needed unless you are running a national tour or prosolo event...

So weatherunderground.com says %70 chance of rain for sunday at devens.

I know i know, i drive a subaru with tires that are pretty good in the rain. But you have to get ready, walk, stand around, work, etc in the rain also.

Anybody have a more accurate weather prediction? I really want to go, but i can chill at home in rain for free.

:dontknow:

70% generally means it will be raining on and off, so you shouldn't be spending the whole day getting drenched, I believe the ball was 60-70% so... Plus it's supposed to be 80* so no freezing. I would say just bring a change of clothes in case some rain passes through.

Plus we'll have the EZ UP with Rain walls so when you aren't working you can hang out rain free.
