So to start it off,

Ok I have a '96 Fisher Aquila that is now a singlespeed with a RockShox Psylo and a deore front disk.

But my new project is a "73 Schwinn SuperSport sunburst orange

I am looking to completely revamp this thing. I have always wanted a road bike. And this being a handbuilt fram and retro makes it much cooler 8)

So I am very extremely new to the whole Roadie thing. I need some guidance in the componentry.

Mike, you're the guy with the know how in here. school me on roadie stuff

My current list:

2006 Giant TCR C2 road

2005 Merckx AXM road frame (needs to be built)

2004 Specialized Allez Comp road - mommas

2001 Trek X1 Cyclocross - converted to my commuter

2000 TST Titanium (aka Mongoose DX10.9 frame) mtb, RockShox SID, the hawtness - Custom built

2000 TST Titanium (aka Mongoose DX10.9 frame) mtb -same as mine, different components - custom built, mommas

1994 Schwinn HighTimber SS chromoly MTB - in process of becoming my singlespeed

Previous...

1994 Specialized HardRock Comp mtb

1995 Diamond Back beater mtb

1997 Diamond Back Vertex mtb

1999 Specialized cheap-o road bike

2000 Specialized S-Works M4 mtb dualie

2001 Specialized S-Works M4 road

Pedro - if you're looking to revamp the old skool schwinn, you have a couple options...

1)

I would be looking to upgrade, I love chro-mo frames. I have always felt awkward on Al road and MTB frames for some reason.

I was fitted when I was in college, and all I need on this frame is a correct length crank (I will have to dig out the measurements.

I used to do 20mile rides on the MTB, sometimes even longer on the road. so basically I want to have a little better on road ride, with a retro frame.

Is it just me, or is Mikes current list of bikes seem a bit long?
So I guess his username is quite fitting huh?

I have two, one MTB and one BMX. Looking to get a road biek or a 24'' BMX bike. Haven't decided which yet...

If you need someone to ride with I'd be down for some road riding as that's all i've been doing lately.

I've got a couple bikes

2004 DBR Expert (Road Bike)

2000 Klein Mantra (Big Squishy MTB)

1995 Gary Fisher HooKooEKoo (Hardtail MTB)

Are there any good MTB trails around down here? I used to ride daily up in Orono on some of the sickest singletrack a few of my friends built.

Crikey, i could make a decent living off Mike alone. Nice list.

My bikes:

2005 Jamis XLT 1.0: Manitou Minute 1:00 fork, Manitou swinger 3 way shock, Hayes FX9 Hydraulic disc brakes, 5.5 inches of squish.

2004 Jamis Satellite road. Carbon fork, I put on flat bars, 9spd cassette, shifters, and Avid brake levers. I couldn't do the drop bars. Killed my back. Bike is probably actually a little big but I have longish legs so I like it a little tall. That means it is also a little long though.

Wifes bikes:

2004 Jamis xlt 1.0

2004 Jamis Satellite. With basically same set-up as mine but I put dual control levers on hers.

I buy left over bikes at a discount for us. Not the most current but we don't get to ride as much as we would like to.

Manitou Minute 1:00 fork
Anyone know of a place locally that will rebuild these forks? My needs a new o-ring around the rebound adjust and new fork oil since most of it has seeped out.

If you take it to a bike shop they'll probably send it off to Quality Bike who will rebuild it. I did it with my SID... came back with new seals and it was teh hawtness! Gotta love a 2.5 pound 100mm travel fork! WOOT!

Sheldon Brown has a kick a$$ website. Everything you'd ever wanna know... and more.

I got the new bike nashbar catalog in the mail today. Good deals on bikes in the back.

I'm down to two rides, both Deans:

A Colonel Xlite for the trails

A el diente for the road

I seem to have owned a bunch of bikes- litespeed, c'dale, trek OCLV, Kleins- but I like these the best ;D

My basement is where old bike parts go to die. I'll post a list next time I get to cleaning out.
