Got pulled over and told my exhaust was illegal. I currently have two ebay cans welded on in place of the stockers (I couldest justify spending 600 or so dollars on a catback, when I wouldent gain any performance. Still wanting to hear what I drive I resorted to the ebay cabbage)
I asked the sheriff to see the lawbook so I could read the law myself, and he agreed. Basically it states any modification done to the exhaust of the vehicle, when the result os the amplification of noise is illegal. So obviously my setup is tossed in that category.
NOW, I have a few questions.. not wanting to pay anymore damn tickets for stuff I've done to my car, naturally im considering changing my exhaust. I got rid of the stock suitcases awhile ago and I definitely don't want to pay stealership price for two more. What I was thinking is cut my exhaust off right before the resonator, weld in some flowmaster that's 1 inlet and 2 outlet, and run 2.5 inch pipes out the stock bumper tip cutouts or whatever.
Question #1 anyone know how that would sound?
Question #2 would that be considered a modification to achieve a louder dB? I could argue it was a repair, and I didn't feel like buying two mufflers. Whereas that argument wouldent hold water with cans.
