I'm looking to make the Union rallycross my first race. As long as my project cooperates. I was just wondering what kind of prep/safety gear I need to invest in. Any other Information would be great. Thanks

should be a 2 day event as usual.

safety gear?

standard seat belts and an approved helmet. visit the website for all the rules and car classing rules as well.

www.ner.org

i will be there in the RS giving it what for.

there are no spectators, we could always use extra volunteers for this that or another thing. also ride alongs are permitted if you have a helmet on. just sign the waiver and enjoy the day.

Yes there are specators!

But, once you see one car do it you'll be like.."WHy didn't I sign up?!?!?" <---its that easy, you don't need a special car or gear Just a seat belt and a brain bucket. Its Union Fairgrounds, its soft plushy dirt for cripes sakes, no rocks. I will recommend a skid plate so your oil pan doesn't scoop dirt/mud. But you can do it without a skidplate, I have many times. And snow tires, much better (faster!!) than all season slicks. If you want to go insanely fast use gravel tires.

However, if you do not sign up to run you will have to do a run with me, or Rez, or anyone. Loaner buckets available.

Not sure what car I'm bringing. The semi-fast (in my mind) wagon, the noisey grumbly tricked out slow Forester, or the wicked slow but agile 2.2L OBS. Tough decisions!

best chance for ride alongs are going to be on Fun Run Sundays.

i have a second driverfor my car that i will be giving rallyx driving lessons to

main thing is, 'show up and have a blast'

sign up in advance. arrive early on race day to get thru tech (this is easy long as ur car passes reg ME inspection). key rallyX tech items are: all loose items out of car, batt held down tight, no/minimal play in ball joints and tie rod ends. helmets as outlined above.

then walk course with others who will talk you through the best lines. ride along with experienced rallyX pilotes, they will get you grinning like ))&^@@ and then it's time to run ur own car.

don't sweat it about 'being the fastest' cuz you won't be. just relax, look waaay down the course and keep car in 2nd gear.

like in autoX, don't look @ cones, look where you want to go. you will be turning car with the brakes as much (or more than) as the steering wheel.

that is all, see yez there!

I went probably 4 years ago and thought it was awesome!! I had a friend that knew a few people there and invited me to go.

4 years ago eh? I think it was 4 years ago with this car..

So you must have known Chris Jensen? He had an 02 WRB WRX. He was the one who invited me there, we have since parted ways due to a mutual friend and I having a falling out, but he is a good guy. I also met J.R. Leigh as well, and maybe even Katnip. There were others as well, just can't remember.

What was the forum that you are talking about?

union is real soft. I ran it fairly well with a stock rex with snows. you will have to problems with the fozzy
