yeah but how modded were the mustangs? and how'd a wrx do in comparison?

 
true, but i was just in awe that a mustang was in a rally to begin with, not saying that is not a rally car but mustangs are very heavy tank like and don't strike me personally as a rally type car. But i agree with you in comparison to a wrx a wrx might win due to it being lighter and having awd. However it would still be in a different class so the comparison would be skwed. Hard saying not knowing.

But yeah man i totally see your point. and yeah i am sure the stang is modded to now end suspension and engine wise. Good point dude

 
No major performance modifications were necessary for the Mustang compete in the rally. The major modifications were made to the interior of the vehicle adding a roll cage racing seats and rally computer. The only two modifications made to the exterior were the off-road racing tires and rally car signature HID Light Bar.

does it make anyone else chuckle when you see the drivers of this heavy, over bloated "sports car" ? And then look at the drivers of the ligher, more nimble, (and presumably faster) Subaru rally drivers? A coincidence?.........

The 2010 Mustang they used was mostly stock - only bolt on performance parts for the engine. Other than that, only safety equipment and underbody protection was added. Utech didn't even have time to source a proper rally suspension for the car and had to run the stock struts/shocks/springs on it for that event.

And for the record, it won overall in the first regional and was running consistent times with Mr Duplessis' VW for the majority of the second regional event which Chris won - they had some issues with the car the final 2 or 3 stages and lost roughly 40 minutes as a result.

No, it is not your typical rally car and no it won't keep up with a proper Subaru rally car. But it proved itself to be a very competitive 2wd MaxAttack competitor!

Just figured that for a mustang to be rally worthy it would need some modification first, being it is designed for street use.

 
lol difference in time was small but the driver sure as hell wasent lol. hell if i was the other guy i woudl be super upset not only did you get beat but the other guy's car weighed atleast 100 pounds more than yours.

i would love to see that mustang run in a snow event and see how many trees he hits

Ian Crerar ran a old Porsche 911 in the CARS series for a while, even in the snow.
