What do you guys think of selling a car overseas?

I have my car up on ebay and I believe I have a legit buyer from italy whos a car dealer. He has a website and feedback and talks clearly and makes sense. What I am trying to figure out is how do I make sure I dont get screwed on payment. Do I do it through paypal or have the money sent to my bank? Any sugestions?

 
Just make sure he pays through paypal or other legit means of payment...

And don't ship till you know the money is good.

 
screw paypal. make sure he deals directly with the bank. have him call your credit union and pay them through there. whenever that payment clears and the CU says you no longer owe them cash. once that balance shows zero load it up and get it outta here

 
+1. Paypal protects the Buyer way to much. He could give you the money then complain to Paypal after he has the car and possiblely screw you some how.

Mark has a good idea. Let him deal with the bank. Bank will catch the guy if its fake.

 
I called the bank and we are good to go. As long as he is cool with it (because its at risk to him) he will transfer the money to my account and as soon as it clears there is no way he can take it back.

 
A bank transfer can still be fraudulant and it may take up to 15 days for a final clearance. Can he wait 15 days for shipping and who is responsable for shipping , insurance, etc. Check with the State AG and see if there has been any scams similar to this transaction.

Im fine waiting 15 days for it to clear and im sure he is considering he has to wait a long time for it to arrive anyways. He is responsible for the shipping including picking it up from my house. Once it leaves my driveway it is no longer mine.

 
NICE! So is he giving you everything you are asking for? Which over there he is probably getting a dang good price.

He is almost giving me what I was asking. He lowballed me and I said hell no but he will still make money.

 
The escrow Co's are kind of a good idea but there are scams out there with them so the guy in Italy may be reluctant on that? I'd contact a co that does a lot of the overseas deals, trying to look in Hemming's Motor News? GLWS!

So like Pat I googled his company and he is the owner of uk garage. The coolest part is not only is he a car dealer but an itialian car tuner. They are actually building v8 exiges. He likes my car so much he wants it for himself and he isn't even going to sell it. At least not right away. I also emailed his name and it came back on several reputable sights saying he is the owner. He is going to send me the deposit using paypal $500 and then wire transfer me the rest. He has a shipping company he deals with to pick the car up from me. He said he will wait for me to get the title from the bank then they whole deal up.

 
I was joking with him about a trade for a v8 exige and he started to get into details about how he might be able to send one as a kit car and I just stopped him and was like hahaha im just joking dude. He is like O well they are "great fun"
