Who'd have though that Juno could cause so many problems *spoilers*

The GF and I went into the local movie joint to rent this the other day. She's been dying to see it, and it didn't look to bad, figured it'd get me out of chick-flick duty for a while.

We get up to the counter, and the clerk comments something along the lines of not liking the end, because she gave the baby up for adoption. Little did she know that my GF is an adoptive parent, and was beyond insulted. After her anger had a while to brew, she finally called the store and talked to the shift manager. He apologized profusely, and told her he'd contact the store manager as well as the district manager. She's talked to both, and said employee no longer works there and I have somewhere around a metric F-ton of free rentals.

I was just pissed that she ruined the end of the movie.

Wow...sorry that the gf got her feelings stomped on by the video clerk, but hey - free movies don't suck too badly. I'm glad to see that a glaring mistake like that was actually escalated up the chain of command, and didn't just die at the shift manager level.

Now we need to get you all learned up in the way of ripping DVDs, this could be an awesome start to building a digital video library

she must have said somethign derrogatory about adoption to get fired for that.

I think adoption is a great thing (a few members of my family are adopted). but I can also see being dissapointed if someone were to put a child up for adoption.

My aunt basically had a child @ 16 and did not give him up for adoption.

I can see being dissapointed in multiple ways about the ending of the movie *CAUTION Spoilers in WHITE TEXT*

I can see being dissapointed that she gave her child up. But that can come from multiple places, 1: She may wholeheartedly regret giving her child up years later 2: I would feel sorry for the child if they ever tries to search for her biological parents.. that can be a really difficult thing (a friend of mine is currently doing just that wil very little luck)

the the thing I found odd/weird/dissapointing is that the person that ended up adopting the child sacraficed her mairrage for her personal lust to have a child. and that child is now going to be raised by a single mother. (not that it is a bad thing, but it does make things more difficult)

So don't anyone take offense to these thoughts as that is all they are. They are case specific to this movie and have no application to real circumstances as the details are always different.

Said clerk didn't necessarily say it in a derogatory or insulting way, but you don't need to be in order to insult someone. The GF was in a situation similar to Garner's. Some things were obviously different, but the situation itself was very close. And yes it's a movie, but to say you don't agree with that decision to someone who has been there (my GF), is to basically say that she shouldn't have her daughters, or that their biological mother was wrong to give them up even though they certainly would have had a far worse life. I certainly wasn't insulted the way my GF was, how could I be, but I do see where she is coming from and how it made her feel, and I think the clerk got what she deserved for being so stupid.

Besides, all that aside, she ruined the damn movie! That alone should be a fireable offense in a movie store.

I agree with you on the giving away the ending thing.
