How old to drive?

Yeah Nate when it`s your own money you learn fast not to trash your car cause it can get pretty expensive. This is what makes most enthusiast calm down a bit. Now if your daddy bought you a car it`s gone to take you longer to get to that point, if your still alive

I can remember loosing my license and sitting at the DMV....

All of a sudden I blurted out... "WTF are U doing?...how do U expect me to B the designated drunk for the next 30 days with no ID?" as they stapled it to a piece of paper and put it in a filing cabinet for the duration.

I was made to get a non-driving state ID so I could go out... BAH..

(now fly me 2 Istanbul or the carry on luggage gets it)

I too demolished my fair share of vehicles including a really rare 1970.5 Trans Am with a nasty factory 400 in it...All that is left is a picture....

the car is black. I swear
I am female, almost 40, race in the dirt and tarmac and am scared to death of my STi. It's a freakin' monster and I know it, thus I treat it with respect and use in within MY abilities.

I did let a 17y/o drive mine from here to Bethel for NEFR, but I also threatened him within an inch of his life AND made him follow me. (I was driving the truck and towing the rally car.)
default_tongue.png
He is also scared of me, so I know he was behaving, and I did let him use it a few times over the weekend unsupervised. But again, he knows I would murder him if he wrecked it. Would I let a kid of mine drive one regularly, HELL NO!

but it does depend on the kid. when I was 19 I wanted to buy my cousins escort gt, my uncle told me it was too powerful and wouldn't let me drive it without my father with me. So I went out and bought a faster car.

But I was paying for it and the insurance and I didn't wreck it.

Driver ed should focus some on car control? maybe kids would be more respectful of powerful cars if they could see how quickly things can go wrong, very wrong. Don't know about the rest of you ol farts, but I learned on an icy lake. Nothing to hit, but lots of ice to scare the crap out of you.

I can only think of a few pre 25yo people that I would put in an STi with out reservation.

either way I still probably wouldn't

You let him drive your new car?! You nutter.

the scary part was when he came to pick me up after recce reg and said he'd help me load the boxes into Scott's truck because Scott had the STi.

Now that was scary!

By the time I was 21 in 1991, my license had been revoked twice (MA and NY) for too many speeding tickets. Like many youngsters, I drove like a nut with little regard for safety or other drivers.

Give a kid an STI and most will treat it like a carnival ride only thing he`s not riding on rails or a closed track. It amazes me what some of the youngins that own an STI must be paying for insurance even with a clean record. When I started driving my 1st car I think my insurance was less than 100 pebbles. It`s so far back I can`t remember

when I was looking for my car I really wanted a turbo subaru... Norm's even let me test drive one. It was a blue bugeye WRX I think. With decent miles, and I could afford it. But the insurance!!

Needless to say, I ended up with my legacy.

When I was in highschool I stopped into a various subaru dealership on the way to a girlfriends house just to look at subarus. I was still driving my cherokee then and didn't know crap about crap about cars back then. The guy there convinced me to test drive a car. They put me in a 1.8 or a 2.0 or something NA auto impreza, and I thought it was hilariously slow. Then the guy let me test drive a wrx

.

Probably for the best I didn't get one instead of my RS, but man I wish I did.
