Looking for the following part - notes below picture: This is the leader cable that comes out of the transmission and attaches to the speedometer cable itself. It's off a 1996 manual transmission (2.2L, though it does not matter). I am open to a used cable, but it MUST come with a mileage...

Chris, my guess with your issue is that the threaded end (1a.) is failing. The reason why it is funky <20 is because it's not building up enough friction to drive the cable. This is just my opinion, and may or may not be accurate, however. -Jeremy

Ok, so... to close my other two threads, and give you guys something to work with in return... here goes. The speedometer cable will be herein referred to as "SC". It's a pain in the patootie to type out each time. So, I got the SC out. When I tugged on it, it separated from the wrong spot...

Where's the other thread? I posted a separate question to see if anyone knew if it was an actual CABLE or if it was some electronic assembly. Other than that thread, I can't find anything related to this on the site.

Does my 1996 Subaru Outback Sport have a speedometer cable? Or is it an electronic speed sensor? I have a 5MT, 2.2L bone stock driveline. Everything is factory except for a few appearance items. If someone could point me in the right direction on this, that'd be awesome. I've got my inspection...

Oh, and the problem is also retarding my rev limiter, so I can't go past 4500rpm right now. Everything I read says this goes hand-in-hand with the P1100.

On my way up to Concord, NH today - my speedometer decided to stop working. Shortly after, the CEL came on and the two codes it gave were: P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction P1100: Starter Switch Circuit Malfunction My first thought is it's simply a Speedometer issue. But I'm confused...

If the pedal sank to the floor on its own, the problem is 100% hydraulic pressure. You have a leak somewhere... they just need to find out exactly where. It might not be an external leak, so bear in mind when you are looking for it. It could be that one of the pressure valves is sticking, and...
