This exceptional vehicle was originally restored by Dick Christensen at his shop in Phoenix, Arizona where I purchased it in 1997. This vehicle has the numbers matching Stiftung Museum birth certificate documenting it

mmm, The People's Car

designed by Ferdinand Porsche, don't forget

early VWs have a design purity that's hard to beat.

my grandmother owned a girls' camp in Harrison, and owned the very first VW bus registered in Maine. It was blue, had the infamous Barn Doors on both sides, and could literally hardly get out of its own way. Cool rig tho. My dad hit a moose with it...fortunately he was going so slow that nothing got broken, not even a headlight. I remember going on a canoe trip to Union River in eastern ME, and my dad getting stuck in the mud on a woods road and getting pulled out by a log skidder--big adventures for a little kid.

Often wonder where that bus is now, it would be worth a pile of $ to restore like this Beetle.

Tanks fer sharin!

Saw this car today at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum, in the barn fresh exhibit. It is CLEAN. Definitely not my taste but can appreciate the state that this car has been restored to.
