What up guys and gals? I'm new to the forum but I've been on nasioc since the beginning of time.

I recently picked up my new money pit: An 06 STI. I flew down to MD and drove it back. Well worth the drive for the price/condition.

I have a grocery list of parts I need to install. I live in southern ME so I'll be sure to hook up with people at the NH meets and try to attend the ME meets. Anywho, heres a pic from the recent SubaruWRXParts.com meet.

Blah STIs are so overrated, Civics FTW!

Jk, Welcome Awesome car! Very jealous. What have you done with it? Any future plans?

I really want a white sti if I ever get another one. I like the black thing I got going on but white just looks so good with black accents like a lip, rims, etc. +1 for current/future mods and what town your in.

It's only a "money pit" if you void the warranty, or go past Stage II modification level.

If you want a definition of "Money Pit", have a look at my STi at the next meet, but first, check my mod list and read my thread:

http://www.mainelysubarus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1499

and then read Nate's 2007 STi Modifications-From-Hell Thread:

http://www.mainelysubarus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=503

The above are both Cautionary Tales about going apesheet and turning a somewhat-reliable, OEM rally-ready car, into a race car that's not-so-much-so in the way of reliability. And spending piles and piles of money, doing so.

Fwiw,I'm +$50K deep in my '05 STi, and at the moment, you'd have a hard time seeing it. Oh, and I'm not even CLOSE to being done. Left to do? Some minor interior work-JDM dash mods, then full paint/body/C-West body kit and stereo are left, as well as a GT35RS, new FMIC, and Stg.III Snow water-meth. For starters. So, by the time I'm "done", I'll be about, I figure, $60,000.00 into the car, and with +500AWHP, I expect to be satisfied, finally, and I'll call it Finished.

As you'll read in my thread, neither I nor Nate EVER meant for this to happen, and I'm in much, much deeper than Nate. Much. Ugh.

Anyhow, If you're rich, and have lots of disposable income, ignore this message, but dump the STi, and go get youself a Porsche, while there's still time, befor the STi breaks you.

welcome always oved white with gold rims. be warned u better liek driving your car on dirt roads or prepare to be flogged lol. hwo many miles does it have on it ?

Thanks for the warm welcome!

In the past I have own 2 other subies. Back in 03' I had a silver WRX that I built along side with XXTuning in CT when they were first getting started. Made almost 400hp and ran 12.2 in the 1/4 mile. The car was well known in the area and won a number of shows. I should have never sold that car.

I then moved on to a 01 GC8. The car had the AIDS. 4 different dealers and 2 "subaru specialists" could not figure why the car would misfire and die constantly. So I dumped that and have been driving a beater car looking for an Aspen white STI.

Specs on the car: BONE STOCK when I picked it up for 20k in MD. The car has 35k on it and is perfect. It came with the goldies and a set of silver BBS with all seasons on them.

I've already tossed my pioneer navigation in it from my old vehicles. I just installed rally armour mudflaps and a JDM hazard switch.

What will the future hold for me? Well I'm really happy with the power the car has stock for this season. I hate the stock ride quality. So I will be working in 3 stages hopefully having a good portion done by next years wicked big meet.

Stage 1: near OEM exterior styling with rear spats, carbon bits here and there and new wheels. I'll upgrade to some BC coilovers and some other lateral bits. Mostly normal bolt ons.

Stage 2: will be most likely a crawford performance GT30/35 rotated kit with all the supporting mods. I'd like to see a reliable 350hp but a mean street machine with crazy fast spool up. I'm in talks with crawford performance and AMS to try and meet my needs, while retaining some sanity.

Stage3: Finish any interior crap that may be needed and refine the exterior as needed.

I love this car! Its an eye catcher everywhere and I drive the **** out of it. I live in lebanon ME right now (just north of rochester NH). Hopefully not much longer though. I'll elaborate on that in another thread.

A GT35RS will easily do 500whp, my FP Green currently does 350whp, but the 30/35R is "laggier"...

Crawford or APS make simple kits, either will do.

I really like the result people are getting from the rotated GT30R kit. Most report spool below the 3200 rpm range. I dont want a monster, but I think 350 is a good number to shoot for since it will be a fun car to drive without loss of reliability.

I know you already had another built subaru but heed gregs warning. Ive been through this with two sti's and its not much fun. Although I have seen people have succesful 400whp+ subarus, the ones with few issues are rare. I think if I was going to do this again I would do exhaust/tune and all my suspension stuff first then put in a brand new built block made by someone reputible ie cosworth or raw. Then after I was satisfied with the reliabilty I would go straight to a brand new name brand gt30/35 kit with the bare minimum supporting mods. Then stop check reliabilty and maybe touch thing up.
