Sorry for thread title, being that this is a Maine site I just couldn't resist using the accent. Anyway I have an Obsidian Black Pearl 2009 WRX that I picked up in March of this year. I live near Farmington but I work in Augusta. So far I have not seen any other 09 OBP WRX Premiums so if you see one near Augusta or in Franklin county it very well may be me. I absolutely love this car but I have not modded anything yet because I have spent all my money paying deductables to fix bumpers and dents due to parking lots and random acts of nature. So far I have had to replace my front bumper, repaint my rear bumper and rear passenger door and have had to replace 2 rims due to a pothole. Its been a bit rough on the wallet. I just hope that other people don't have this kind of luck. I only know 2 other people with WRXs. One of them I work with has a red 2007 and another is a friend in Rangeley with a Blue 2008. Anyone else live in the Franklin County area? I know a have seen a few around!

hey man.... wagon or sedan?

welcome how did you find the website? invite your friends.

yes we need pics and welcome. when your wallet recovers i highly recomend goign stage one right away. it will cost your about 110 bucks and add around 30hp and 30lb tq. it just involves a K7n drop in air filter and reflashing your car.

besides if your car is fast enough who cares abotu dents peopel wotn be bale to see them when you are flying by them

Oh yeah, I forgot. I got the hatchback just because it seems more functional and less of a cop magnet, plus I thought that a smaller sub would sound better in a hatch. My old car was 97 Grand Am GT and it had Kenwood on the rear window and some other brand names on the side, I would get pulled over doing 3mph under the limit and get a warning for speed. It was BS. Now that I have this they don't seem to notice me, even when I'm going a little fast. I kinda liked the sedan and I test drove one of them, but I liked the LED tails and the STIish look of the 09 as well so its what I went with.

Ok, I'm at a friends house so I appologize for the crappy nature of the photo. I had to shrink it with windows paint. He just happened to have this photo taken in front of his house about a month or two ago. I will get some better ones later.

Welcome, I am about 20 minutes south of Farmington. Lived there most of my life and work in Farmington/ Where abouts are you? Have you checked out the drive for Oct. 4?

that's RIGHT YOU TELL EM DAMIT!!!! LOL. that's fine though, some people just don't like the hatch but honestly I thought the sedan this model year was a little weak. The tail lights looked very... Civic coupish and it only seemed to come in chrome trim. I liked the black trim better. I don't want something with a bunch of tacked on flashy stuff.

Also Kristof, where can I get a stage one upgrade for just $110? I was thinking about getting a kit from Perrin with a Cobb Access Port and a Perrin drop in filter, but I have heard some bad things about thier intake and thier filter looks cheaply built to me. They do offer a free map with it that claims to get the 09 to... I think it was 293hp and 300ftlb of torque. There is the ability to change maps on the fly with the AP that has peaked my intrest too, I don't wanna miss out on that.

After that though I will probably take a while to go to stage 2, unless I get a nice promotion sometime soon. I won't hold my breath for that this year though!

If that red car in you signature is yours, I think I have seen that car at one time or another. I'm from chesterville to be a little more accurate but farmington is easier for most people to Identify with for a location. I spend a lot of my free time in Farmington, Kingfield and Rangeley though. I actually took my car to the loop trail parking area at Tumbledown Mountain recently, I like the way this car, that is very pavement oriented, still does amazing on dirt. It's definitely still a Subaru.

ok well you can talk to different people and get different opionons but here is myne.

ap is nice yes but do i think its worth that much money?? hell no!! the only way i could see justifying it is if you plan on doign multiple thigns with your car i.e track days, auto-x drag strip etc. but even then not sure its worth the money. but hell if money isn't an issue and you want to get it by all means gor for it. but if you have limited funds and want the most bang for your buck im not a fan

i just did stage one and what i did was get a k&n drop in filter for 45 bucks ( get them at any auto parts store and you cant beat them). Second i went to xpt tunign and got an opensource flash

http://www.xpttuning.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47&products_id=94

the way open source works is you download the file and you have to do one of two things. one woudl be buy a tactrix cable that plugs up to your laptop and into your ecu and flash the car yourself. if you dont feel comfortable doing that or again want to save money you can have somone from here flash it for you. its about a 5 minute process at most.

I love my xpt map!! not only did it give my car a huge kcick int he pants it make it drive so much smoother. im not looking down at my tac any more waiting for boost to kick it. it feels smooth from bottom to top end and dosent drop off at 6k rpm anymore pulls ahrd all the way to redline. every time i drive my car now i have a huge friggin smile on my face. before you do anythign i highly suggest stage 1 from xpt. just ask renshi he just did sateg 1 on his 08. i knwo with my xpt stage 1 i got around 20-26 hp and 25-30 lbs ft tourque

Well, I have 7 computers, but they are all outfitted for gaming and none of them are laptops. I have a buddy with a laptop though and I use to work as a computer tech for 5 years in Wilton ME. Flashing should not be a big deal if it is anything like flashing bios or updating firmware in some other device. I will look in to this, thanks Kristof! Oh and I think I may look in to that 93 Octane gas at twitchels. I found a shell station somewhere, Rumford I think that had a pump labeled as 93 Oct. but I didn't ask if was true, I just bought it. Is there any benifit to running 93 oct without 93 oct reflash?

I can second that. Definitely worth the $$$$ even if it didn't make it faster...but it does.

that label has to be incorrect at the shell station the state of maien no longer sells 93 octane gas. the stuff at twitchells is imported from canada lol. yes 93 octane is a bit better. are you gonan say wow i feel the difference no but its right by my house and i dotn drive much so i dotn mind payign the extra money. my tune was made for 93 octane anyway so if i can eak 1-2 hp out of it why not
