Hey I just recently bought a 2010 wrx premium and am looking to get new wheels and tires for summer use only. Any advice on what to get or where to look? Thanks.

Budget and goals? There are so many options out there it would make your head spin. Also post pics so we know what we are working with.

I'm looking to be around 1,000 bucks give or take a few hundred and I just want a nicer looking wheel that will fit without rubbing, and give it that rally car look that she deserves. Ill get some pics on in a few minutes

I am having trouble attaching my picture files because they are too big I guess.. dont know what that means however the car I have as my profile picture is the one and you can sorta see the wheels. they are stock rims and tires, they are all seasons so my plan is to run them in the winter and have another more stylish set for the summer.

I just use Photobucket myself and copy and paste the image code. There is a tutorial on here on the other way to do it.

So $1000 for wheels and tire? It can be done but won't be top of the line stuff if that interests you. I have seen and found quite a few good deals on used setups. Both my sets are used.

Thanks for the advice

I could even go 2,000 if that would give me some better options

I just don't really know where to start looking is my biggest problem.

I'm partial to Prodrives, Enkeis, and Braid. TSW's look pretty good too. As for tires I'm a fan of the Bridgestone RE series like the RE01's and RE 760's. These are kinda higher end. A popular choice among subies are Rotas. I'm not a fan of most of them but they are cheaper and usually fairly good reliability. Most people go through http://www.wheeldude.com. I would not advise this from my own personal experience.

Bridgestone potenza re-01r's are what I'm running now, best tire I've ever had!

advan and Rays are good quality wheels but very pricey.

All of this! Rays are extremely expensive but looked really good. Also I would stay with 17's. Lighter and usually more durable. I am always afraid I'm going to bend my 18's. Not much tire meat.

Get aftermarket 17's if you don't like anything OEM used.

For dedicated summer tires, if you're cheap, get Hankook RS3s, they're a great budget summer. If you have more to spend get Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. They discontinued the Bridgestone RE01R so people need to stop recommending them. Their successor is the RE11, which for the price/performance, you might as well just get Star Specs unless you want to spend more money. Granted I only know pricing for 205/55R16 so your millage may vary with 17s.

As for rims, you can get fake wheels like Rota or XXR, but I'd personally go for something nicer. A bunch of people may jump down my throat about fake rims, they're fine if you garage your call all the time and only drive it to wicked big meet and back or whatever, but that's not how I roll. I play hard with my cars.

If it were me I'd be going for 17 inch Enkie RPF1s with Star Specs, nice light rim with good rubber. There's a ton of other rim choices, and I'm just starting to look into aftermarket after running OEM 16s on all my cars for years, so I may not be the best person to ask.

I agree with this post!

I think it depends on what "fake" wheel you get. I have, and have seen them abused very hard, without issue, but of course there are some that have not lasted so well.

a lot of it depends on how you treat your car, and how much sidewall you have as well. If you have 40 series tires and you hit a big enough pothole.. Your wheels probably gonna bend. Regardless if its a rays or a rota or a stocker ferrari wheel even.
