Not really, a WRX axleback was just put on my 2.5 and I have had some nice comments on it. Sure it doesn't sound as mean as some other Imprezas here in the group, but I think it depends on what you're really going for. My car doesn't sound like a Toyata anymore, but its not #199 either. I'm happy with it and it was cheap!

...with that said, I like Garrett's STi exhaust more than mine

 
yes but garrett has more than ust a sti axleback to sound the way it does and yours would be louder but you have an el manifold just like i-wagon and a huge resonator midpipe so if you did garretts exhaust your axleback would sound almost the same
