so walmart had a sale that started today for the acer as 5251 laptop.....came with amg processor, v120 2.2ghz, ati mobility radeon hd 4250 graphics, 15.6 screen led lcd, 2gb mem, 250 gb hdd, and more....i payed 298......i only really use it for networking, photos, music and the occasional dvd......its not a big doller laptop but im usually a firm believer of you get what you pay for.........what do you guys know about the acer laptops and was this something ill regret buying.....ive got 15 days to return it if i dont like it.

I have 2 acers and happy so far. Mine (5672WLMi)(Intel Duo) has been through hell and still runs like a charm. i'd give them 9/10
PS: On the other hand, my wife's 5100 (AMD) is not as peppy and the Intel, maybe 7/10

Don't know about the laptops but we had 2 desktops at my P.D. and one made it about 8 months and fried two mother boards and the other lasted just over a year losing a power supply then later on the mother board went out.

hmm. my laptop is 4 years old, and runs good.... i guess acer does suck at desktops

Meh, I build my own stuff! Safest way and most cost efficient! Your not paying someone else to put it together. Ive had my Desktop since 03, never broken. I have upgraded it once but never had any issues!

I have the Acer One Netbook and I love it, had it for about 2 years now with not a single problem or failure of any kind. When working as an electronics salesman in past lives I always reccomened them. IMO they are a great buy; solid and affordable.

Hehe, I don't build laptops cause they suck to work on! I just do desktops. Ive had my laptop for about 2 years now, not an Acer, strictly for school use and haven't had a problem with it yet.

You can't really go wrong with acer laptops. They're not top of the line by any means, but they're about the best quality you can get for the price. And they're durable as all hell! I've had an older one on a boat for navigation. Got submerged in salt water twice. Took it apart and cleaned it out, worked fine. I dropped it 8' onto concrete, still lived with a little screen crack... It used to be my beat on laptop and loaner laptop when I was working on other people's computers for my business and it did awesome! Finally died when loaned to someone. They (somehow) dropped it in the bath
Anyway, they didn't properly take care of a submerged laptop and it died. But it lived a long and abusive life.
Unless their quality has slipped, you have yourself a great middle of the road laptop that should last you many a trouble-free year.
Good chance you'll have problems with Windows down the line... but it's Windows and will always have issues.
