i had my car detailed, thinking it might be nice to show up looking shiny for my favorite parts guru when i came up to maine this week. so, on the way home, after doing so, and 2 hours at the gym, and 8 hours at work all night, i saw, hey! $4.17 for 93oct! SWEEEEEET!

so i pull in, grab 4 gallons to top off my tank, and drive off. . ..2 miles or so later. BUCKING..... bucking like .... well you get the picture. . . .it was bucking.

then total loss of power, then stalled. every 8th try or so it will run, but only with the throttle feathered quickly, and even then you CAN TELL ITS ONLY RUNNING ON 1&4.... sounds like a harley. ..

whoa.... is no goods. ..

bad gas?? perhaps, but why so many codes? why misfires on only 2 cyls?

I know this is a stupid suggestion, but with all of the rain we've had, it's worth a shot.

Speaking from experience on this matter....

Pull the plugs and wires on your driver side (2 & 3) and check them. Replace all four plugs, just to be sure. Replace (or borrow a set you know is good) the plug wires as well. Also, consider your coil pack.

Could be a fuel thing, but could also be an ignition thing.

Happened to me the other week on the way to ECS... was running on 2.5 cyls (yes, 2.5 cyls) due to a dead plug and a misfire. Bucking like a Bronco.

 
5 cans of dry gas might get you up and running.

where did you fill up?

where are you stranded?

 
check all of your connections for water. I can't come up with anything off the top of my head that would make the cam position sensor or MAF go wacky from gas.

tried octane booster. . . .

maybe timing?

Sounds like you shorted/grounded out something on the engine harness to me with all the different codes that are seemingly not related.

The firing order is 1 3 2 4. The passenger side cylinders are 1 (front), 3 (rear). You're not even on the same side, or even front/back of the engine if you're getting misfires in 2 and 3.

Take a peek under the intercooler and check the status on your pitch mount. and then give the engine a kick or poke a head or hand under to check the drivers side engine mount.

you can stretch the harness if either of those break and you don't know. I think this is similar to the problems that Brighton had when he bought his STi with a borked liquid motor mount and the pitch mount followed.

 
i was gonna guess a wire harness unplugged too, and yeah, its conceivable bad bucking from bad gas could have done that.

Also, try siphoning off the gas tank and putting in gas..

I've heard storys of cars accidently getting filled with water instead of Gas (happened in Manchester, ME once).

But yeah 4 gallons of water mixing in in that amount of time, I guess that could be possible....

maybe you just need to tune for the super water injection :sad5:

car is at evergreen! turns out she threw timing. ..somehow. ...and the pistons played a little chin music for the valves.. .

dont know how bad, dont know how many. .. .. looks like im gonna be carless for a bit.
