I just picked up an 04 WRX a few weeks ago and Im thinking of doing my exhaust. Do you guys get hassled much over louder exhausts? I cant decide if I want to go with a semi-quieter (maybe evo II) or something a little louder (g200 prob.). Are most you guys running catted DP or catless?

I've never been jacked by the cops because of exhaust.
*WRX w/Bosal 3" single tip (loud).
*5.0L Mustang w/godknowswhat aftermarket dual set up(slightly better than glasspacks)
*Escort Gt w/glasspack muff. just stupid, but fun.
*Golf w/Moody Special (kinda loud).
*Golf w/Bosal SS (mid loud).
*f-150 5.0L with dual resonated tailpipes, no mufflers. BillyBoyBadass
*2.5 RS with Borla SS. Kind of mild.
No exhaust is too loud until you delete a cat or two...imho.

I want to keep it on the mild side with nothing too crazy. I was thinking a catted DP with the G200... it's hard to tell how loud it is by just listening online though. I've searched through a ton of videos and over at NASIOC as well and some people say its quiet while others say its loud. I love that Subie growl and I want to hear it, haha. Decisions, decisions....

Stay away from the melon shooters, Invidia, N1, thems is loud.
The cops hate the buzzy non-boxer 4cyl sounds. Most v6, flat4, flat6, and v8 sounds are nice.
On the other hand, some are too quiet. Like the STi muff on the WRX. It just doesn't do it for me.

never been stopped for noise, borla on an RS coupe with big red mudflaps and an sti wing, plus the setup causes afterfire when you let off :
(ie, I stick out like a sore thumb)

^^^yes. I run a catless 3 inch Turbo Back. Its loud, cant really explain it any other way. But i also drive a 99 leggy wagon. So the cops usually dont think its me making the noise, but last summer i did get pulled over 3 or 4 times for the exhaust. But i told them it was an exhaust leak, and they let me go. Damn i love my soccer mom wagon.
