Flat Tire - Pot Hole

UPDATE
Just got notice from the city that they aren't paying for anything because they didn't know about the hole 24hrs prior to the accident. So I guess I'm not getting reimbursed...oh well

that sucks man!

my wife has a small bend in one of the BBS wheels on her Gli. but not like that.

oh and I still have that pintle hitch that Redline hit!

There is a lesson in here somewhere:

If you see a road hazard that you think could prove costly, i.e. pot hole, frost heave, anything...report it. If you pass a pot hole and go..."good god if someone hits that full speed and doesn't see it they're EFFED!" then call it in to the city. make Portland move proactively and fix road issues the right way the first time.

example: last year when i lived over by munjoy hill, there was a freaking canyon in the middle of the road at the bottom of fox st by franklin art. you couldn't drive over it, even at low speeds. It was bad enough that if a small car didn't see it and hit it full speed I'm nearly positive it wouldn't make it back out. i passed that hole EVERY DAY. looking back i really should have reported it, because if someone totally messed up their front end because they didn't see it, it could have all been avoided so much earlier if it was reported.

check out this article from the press herald: http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=268026

• Maine motorists pay more than $260 million statewide for motor vehicle repairs, higher fuel use and tire wear caused by deteriorating roads.

• One-third of the 200 fatal crashes in Maine every year could be due to poor or antiquated road design.

• Closed bridges and deficient roads increase the cost of products transported by trucks because of delays and detours.

• Weight limits are placed on 1,600 to 2,000 miles of mostly rural roads not built to modern engineering standards each spring during mud season, hurting Maine's rural businesses.
might be enough to spin into another thread

place nextdoor to me does wheel repair, and trust me when i say the finished product is perfect. as long as its just a bend, and no crack, the cost is $150 and they fix the bend, and paint it factory color. let me know if you want me to hook it up for ya.

Thanks for the offer but it was cracked as well + I already replaced it.

there was a hole like that near where I live.Since I'm in an extremely poor town (Bremen) and it is pretty much all back roads not much road repair goes on... This winter there was a hole that was so deep someone actually put a traffic cone in it. Only about 2in of the cone stuck out of the top of the crater in the road. And I always though "Man, if someone hit's that hole going more than 0mph they'll EFFF up their car wicked bad".

Well, a while later my friend hit it at 40mph with his JEEP CHEROKEE, if there is any vehicle that would be able to take that hole, it was a jeep. But no, it took the front wheel clean off the car. Yes, it literally ripped the wheel, axle, and other bits and pieces off the car.

No, the town didn't pay for it, but they did do something about the crater...
