transmission drain plug

If memory serves me right it should be dead center on the bottom of the transmission case almost inline with the back of the front tires. Just ignore the pictures they didn't really help me locate it.

hmmm, i was wondering if the obvious plug at the bottom of the transmission was the one...but its not a nut, id probably have to use some sort of star shaped allan wrench...definitely not a 21 mm nut and it sticks out right in the middle of the case, not set in like the pictures on scoobymods

the one on thier pic is of a non-turbo 90's subaru yours won't have any exhaust near it

but you will need to pull your I/C to refill yours

thanks for the advice Gabe...even though it was the worst ever...haha j/k...those bolts on the back side of the intercooler are such a beyotch! the one closest to the driver side almost made me drive this thing off a cliff....lost one of the bolts there that i'm sure my tire will find got myself one nice set of bloody knuckles....a pump with an extended hose would have been much easier, especially since i needed it for the rear diff anyways

oh well, live and learn

There is also a wide assortment of funnels that will reach the fill hole. I use cheap measuring one with an on off valve. For the record it is a T70 and I guess it is on the 05+???. I originally thought it was only the 06+, but guess I was wrong. Where did you find yours I had to order mine online because no local places carried em.

It is a T70 on the newer scoobs. Apparently too many quickie oil change places drained the tranny instead of the oil pan so Subaru changed it to a T70. For the refill, I just use a piece of clear rubber hose clamped to a funnel... insert into fill hole and fill 'er up!

i ended up finding the T70 at NAPA in Westbrook...the only place in town (or directly out of town) that carried this little guy...seems to be kinda rare. since i had no hose lying around, i ended up taking the intercooler off...which i really regret

on a related note...does anybody know how to read a bolt?! the '8' on the top of the bolt is the diameter of the bolt? i can't seem to find a bolt that will work with a 12mm socket! i want them all to match so that i don't have to switch tools when taking the intercooler off. even the flanged bolts i found at autozone that were marked 12mm (even showed a 12mm wrench on the box) wouldn't fit inside my 12mm socket. A 13mm socket drove it in though...is this weird?
