WRX towing capabilities

Hey guys, Just wanted to know if anyone had any bad experiences towing with their WRX. I usually tow my snowmobile (about 900 lbs including trailer) with my truck, but it's seen better days. I have an stage II 02 Wagon, seam welded, with forester struts. As far as specs go, this car stock should be able to tow up to 2000 lbs, but I know how picky it can be about some things, and feel a little unsure about it. Just wondering what you guys think.

I never had any trouble towing with my WRX in either stock, stage I or stage II trim. I don't think I got close to 2000 lbs, the big things I hauled where motorcycles and constuction garbage, but I think that's in the same ball-park as what you are looking to do.

I have towed around 2000lbs with my subaru. although if you are going to do it for a long haul or fairly regularly, get it and the trailer wired up wtih brakes. The 2000lb limit is WITH trailer brakes as per the manual.

Definitely keep it at the speed limit or below, as sustained high speed towing will get your oil temps up with the turbo. and let the thing warm up and cool down for a few minutes because of that.

3000 mile tow of 2800lbs killed the tranny in my RS. Just sayin' ...

Thanks for the input guys. I should only be towing when it's cold out, and definitely won't be towing more then 1200 lbs. Might look a little silly, but sounds like it should be good!

you should be fine , I tow a 4x8 trailer with my focus , with loads ranging from washer/dryer , atv's , riding mower etc.... I even towed a load of wood and furniture weighin around 1200 pounds trailer included from yarmouth in a snow storm and had no issues. after a couple years of towing it she does seem to be getting a litte tired but still hauls it just fine. if my focus can do it , your wrx can do it.
