Yes. Subarus are much much simpler, more refined engineering, a lot less rusty stuff, a lot less leaky stuff nastiness, and a lot easier to work on. 

are they actually saabs, or rebadged GM's? 

The newer 9-3 Sports are rebadged GM turds.  All the others are Saabs with GM crap inside.

you are correct.  and yes, better lookin.  9-2X is not a Saab.  Only thing I don't like about the 9-2Xs is the interior color combos.  Too light, too tan.
