STi EJ257 short block going in!

Well after a few weeks of wondering what the hell is going on with my car, we finally got the engine pulled out and found numerous problems along the way. The car went downhill FAST, within a week I'd say. I was losing about a quart and a half of oil in 160 miles

lots of blue smoke, ran extremely crappy under boost, just overall something really bad was happening. Never experienced oil loss before in this car, always checking oil level religiously. I was HOPING it was just the turbo going, since that's a quick easy fix, but after further inspection, it was certainly not the turbo. So with the help of Lobstah, we pulled the motor and just found lots of problem (we did do a leakdown test prior). Both passenger side cylinders seem to be just all out of whack, lots of piston play, factory honing completely gone, fresh wear marks on the pistons, uneven boring, and the rings just not sealing properly. We just can't seem to pin point the problem to one thing. We haven't looked at the driver's side cylinders yet. Just an overall disaster, and not exactly sure what caused it all to happen so quick.

So I decided to just do a hybrid swap with my existing 2.0 heads. I've got a brand new EJ257 short block, 08 STi oil pump, water pump, thermostat, full gasket set, and STi head gaskets from Evergreen, and also got 07 STi injectors, and a Walbro 255 FP to soon be put in

(Along with a tune obviously).

BIG thanks to Lobstah for all of the help, and also Evergreen for hooking me up with all the parts I needed. I'll post some more pics as we move on.

 
How is that car SO CLEAN even down in the nether regions of the engine bay??!!

AHA! spotted some oil leakage down on the front subframe.

 
Yea, i was wondering where you have been Ryan. Haven't seen you at school or anything lately. And wern't you telling me how us school kids got no money? Well, its seems like after this you will have no money, haha.

Every spring I take out the engine and detail the paint in the engine bay

haha jk. I don't know, but I do clean the engine bay a few times each year.

Sorry to hear about the engine sounds like there is a silver lining though, I'm about 99% sure you'll find the same with the ex!

I'll try to swing up in the afternoon. Looks like the stuff with my car will be taken care of on Thurs/Friday. I do have a few things to do first thing... so if you are still doing work around 2 ish I come up. I'll text ya.
