If I do sign up for team Jimbo, what kinda work would I be doing?
Our team will be in charge of several stages across the two days. This work will be completely different from "spectator marshals," whose job it is to hang near spectator areas and make sure the drunks don't try for a high-speed autograph.
No, our team will be checking cars into the start area, they'll be handed the race card by the codriver, they'll do some quick writing on it, they'll be checking harnesses/helmets/windows, they'll be at the start line counting down to the start, they'll be at the flying finish lines with FRS radios - radioing in when cars pass in front of them (for remote timing purposes).
There will be some folks we'll actually send up the stage (well before it starts) to sit at intersections and keep folks from accidentally driving onto a hot stage.
Long story short, if you want to get close to the action, but don't have your own rally car, this is how to do it.
Are you going up and staying overnight or driving each day?
I'll be going up Monday night and staying through. Last year we were
here, and it worked well. I'm treating myself to a day of downhill on Tuesday, and all are invited to come with.
