In before the close!

Figured I would ask here rather than create a stupid thread about it.

2011 STI... When I bought it, it had something loose near the glove box.  Come to find out (just now), checking my cabin air filter situation...  Its the shock that prevents the glove box from slamming down.  Its silly but I kind of would like to put it back..  I know how it snaps onto the glove box door itself but can not see where it latches on the other side.  Wondering if someone could snap a picture for me of where the shock actually mounts?  I am wondering if the piece that holds it went missing.  I did some google searching and couldn't find a close up of how it mounts.  Any help much appreciated.
I'm not sure if these vids will answer your Q's but around they show the shock placement...

Really hard to tell what it actually attaches too. That looks very similar. When I look in there I see no mounts for the bracket on the shock.

8th weekend in a row of getting called in to work. Wanted to change the oil in the imp but never had time.. The rotella isn't black yet and has barely gone down in 3400 miles. Guess I'll push it back a week

That's synthetic, no?  Can't you run up to 5,000 miles on that?

I have faith in the oil, but the filter only has so much volume to trap crud.

My tranny makes noise, and reverse is noticeably loud

you figure out whats wrong with it yet?
Not yet, I'll know later. A went over a small hump in the road, doing about 20-25, and then all of a sudden my car started chugging, and my rpms dropped, my cel flashed, then it just died out. wouldnt turn back over. it was pretty close a few times, but nothing.

It literally ALMOST started. I'm really hoping it's something stupid and not the motor too. Good luck with your heads!

Thanks Good luck getting your car running.  Could be timimg belt issue.  we had a tenchioner let go and the car would just turn over but not fire and it happend to a customer just driving down the interstate and the car just died

Aaaaaand now I think my valves are ticking, recent oil change with 5w30 and the old oil which was way overdue when I bought the car seemed clean, just dark. I always wait for the engine to warm up fully before hammering on it. I heard running rotella 15w40 really helps with ticking and piston slap. Would that be fine for the extreme cold we have been having recently? Ej25d with 213k miles on it. Could a loose timing belt tensioner cause enough slack to cause ticking valves? It's only noticeable when accelerating at certain rpm

Yes, a loose tensioner can cause a soubd similar to piston slap or ticking valves. Super cold weather can also bring out valvetrain sounds. I'm not saying nothing is wrong, just saying things may be normal for the wear on the engine.

Don't run 15w40 in the winter. The thickest I'd run would be a 5w40 in the winter.

Rotella t6 5-40. Mine ticks when cold, always has. Goes away after a few minutes, don't burn much if at all when I was burning half a quart of Mobil 1 in 3k

Valve adjustment isn't real difficult (on mine anyway)

So one of the mechanics at work who is a transmission specialist rode with me to get lunch, could not get it to make the noise. Just came down the back side of Goff hill, couldn't do it then either, maybe I scared out in to submission :p
